Frequently asked questions

What is Nitrous?

Nitrous is a native desktop app for motorsport live timing and streaming. It connects directly to Formula 1 data feeds so you can follow every session in real time, with telemetry and timing data you won't find in any browser.

Which platforms does it run on?

Nitrous targets macOS, Linux, and Windows. All three platforms will be supported from the first public release.

Do I need an F1 subscription?

Basic live timing and telemetry work without a subscription. Streaming features like F1 TV or the Driver Tracker Track Map require an active F1 subscription linked to your account.

Will it be free?

Nitrous will be free to use, we do not lock any live timing data behind a pay wall. But certian Nitrous specfic features may be limited or unavailable in the free version.

Will other racing series be supported?

Yes. F2, F3, WEC, WRC, MotoGP and more are on the roadmap. Formula 1 is the priority for the initial release.

Why a desktop app instead of a website?

A native app eliminates the need for a backend server and allows direct F1 account login, something that's impossible to do safely on a third-party website. It also enables higher performance and richer data views.
